Servicio Insular

The Instituto de Atención Social y Sociosanitaria (IASS) is an autonomous organisation dependent on the Island Council of Tenerife. It works within the social and health-social care responsibilities assigned to the island councils, organising its resources and services through specialist intervention units. Its Childhood and Family Unit is responsible for matters concerning children experiencing social difficulties and their families, as well as preventive initiatives that strengthen protective factors for children and adolescents across Tenerife.

Through indirect management by the Asociación Solidaria Mundo Nuevo, the IASS delivers the Island Service for Specialised Childhood and Family Care. This service provides comprehensive, specialised assessment and intervention for children living in centres managed by the IASS and for children at risk, working in collaboration with municipal services specialising in childhood and family care. It also carries out initiatives to promote the wellbeing of children and young people throughout the island. Together, these functions combine direct support for children and families with prevention and broader community-focused promotion.
