About Servidor Local
Servidrolocal is a brand that serves as a platform and provides space for diverse projects. Whether you're looking for a cultural center, a research center (social or aesthetic), or a forum for dialogue, Servidrolocal aims to be that and more. Founded in February 2021 during the pandemic, Servidrolocal was created to be a space where things happen. They understand that many people feel apprehensive about approaching art and other cultural expressions, and aim to break down barriers by creating an inclusive and accessible environment for anyone, regardless of their knowledge or background in art or design.
Servidrolocal supports and champions projects that contribute to society, culture, crafts, or community. They encourage projects that ask questions, foster exchange, and challenge stereotypes. With a commitment to equality and community-building, Servidrolocal seeks to communicate and collaborate with the local neighborhood, forming alliances and support networks. Behind Servidrolocal are a group of individuals who collaborate, grow together, and engage in various roles such as curating, designing, organizing, and more. They experiment with each exhibition, constantly evolving and transforming their space to adapt to different projects and processes.
Servidrolocal aims to make an impact on society through their exhibitions and discourse, benefiting both the immediate surroundings and reaching far beyond. Their inclusive and diverse approach aims to provide a refuge for ideas, differences, and voices that often struggle to find a place elsewhere. They particularly focus on working with women and projects that aspire to create a better environment through inclusive and process-oriented proposals. Servidrolocal is directed by Carla Hernández, an activist botanist, plant curator, and landscape agent, and María José Argumedo, a researcher, community process facilitator, and educator. Together, they strive to create a diverse and open space for individuals to explore art and cultural expressions.
