C.H.E. “As Sete Bicas” is a cooperative founded in 1975 in the parish of Senhora da Hora, initially with 250 members. It soon became one of Portugal’s leading promoters of the cooperative sector. Based in Matosinhos, the organisation combines a history of cooperative development with services supporting children and students.

Its developments include projects such as Azenha de Cima, Barranha, Bouça and Ponte da Pedra, documented in the cooperative’s historical overview. The organisation also operates a childcare service, describing support for early childhood as a fundamental part of its social action. For students, its Casa do Estudante university residence offers accommodation, with visits available by appointment and information provided for prospective residents and applicants.

Sete Bicas shares updates through news, circulars and public notices, and publishes reports, accounts, activity plans and budgets. Its website also outlines its structure, statutes and governing bodies, reflecting its member-based organisation. Through these activities, the cooperative maintains a broad role in community development, childcare and student accommodation.
