Settlementet is a community-focused organisation in Copenhagen’s Vesterbro district, working to support individuals and build strong, inclusive communities. Its services include free, impartial social and debt counselling, delivered through a respectful, collaborative and holistic approach. Settlementet also offers tailored employment and education programmes for people who need support taking their next steps. Participants can gain experience and develop skills at their own pace, including through placements in Saxogade, a social-economy street with nine shops and services such as a café, hairdresser, bicycle repair shop, tailor and gardening activities.

The organisation runs Gang i Gaden, an open drop-in space for adults in Istedgade, where people can connect and find support focused on rights, health and community. Settlementet’s clubs bring people together for activities, outings, shared events and mutual support, helping to counter loneliness. Through its initiatives, shops, community events and fundraising, Settlementet creates opportunities for participation, practical assistance and belonging. Its work is guided by the belief that everyone can contribute when given the right support and conditions.
