Settlers of Algonquin Highlands is a dedicated platform for genealogy enthusiasts seeking to explore the rich history of families and descendants from the Township of Algonquin Highlands and nearby hamlets. This community-driven project draws upon a diverse array of original records to provide accurate historical insights, while respecting privacy by excluding living persons from its archives. The initiative is fueled by collaborations among local volunteers, the Oxtongue Lake area, as well as the Dorset and Stanhope Heritage Museums.

Users are encouraged to contribute to the repository by sharing their own photos, documents, and stories, enhancing the collective knowledge of the community. In addition to historical records, the platform features options for searching surnames, accessing photographs, and viewing stats related to genealogical research. Whether you are researching your family history or simply have an interest in the area's past, Settlers of Algonquin Highlands offers an engaging and informative experience focused on preserving local heritage
