About Seven Stories Press
Seven Stories Press is an independent publishing company that was founded in 1995 by Dan Simon. With a commitment to promoting radical imagination and uncompromising political literature, Seven Stories Press publishes a diverse range of books, including political works, fiction, and poetry. The brand's name is derived from the seven authors who joined the press at its inception, reflecting its dedication to fostering a fiercely independent spirit.
In addition to their regular publications, Seven Stories Press operates several imprints, including Triangle Square Books for Young Readers, which specializes in books for children and young adults. The company's origin story began with Dan Simon's discovery of a forgotten story by Nelson Algren in an old anthology. Motivated by the realization that Algren's works were out of print, Simon embarked on a mission to republish his books.
This led to the founding of Seven Stories Press and its commitment to championing important voices and stories that may have otherwise been overlooked. Through their publishing endeavors, Seven Stories Press continues to provide readers with access to thought-provoking and socially conscious literature. Whether you're interested in political nonfiction, compelling fiction, or captivating poetry, Seven Stories Press offers a diverse catalog of engaging books
