About CVAR
Located in the heart of the walled city of Nicosia, the Centre of Visual Arts and Research (CVAR) is a cultural institution that aims to promote the culture and history of Cyprus. Opened in 2014, CVAR is home to the Costas and Rita Severis collections, which include valuable paintings, antique costumes, and memorabilia related to Cyprus and its neighboring regions. The center also features a library and research center with over 10,000 volumes available to scholars and casual readers.
CVAR actively supports understanding and peaceful coexistence through various activities, workshops, and seminars held on the ground floor. Visitors can explore the rich history of Cyprus and soak in the breathtaking views of the city from CVAR's unique and historic location. With the mission of reconciliation and understanding among all communities, CVAR encourages learning about the island's cultural heritage and promotes the importance of visual and creative arts.
