SEV Mravenec

SEV Mravenec is a non-profit environmental education centre and local organisation of the Czech Union for Nature Conservation, active in the Pelhřimov district since 1997. It helps children and young people discover nature, understand its systems, and develop respect for the environment and one another. The centre creates and delivers environmental learning programmes for kindergartens and primary schools, and runs activities for children and youth, including a nature-focused club, weekend events, camps and day camps.

Mravenec also organises public outreach, with its annual Earth Day event bringing visitors together for hands-on activities about wildlife, plants, waste sorting and more. Other initiatives include Medování, educational exhibitions, publications and nature trails. Its practical conservation work includes installing and cleaning bird boxes, maintaining protected meadows through hand mowing, and caring for several protected areas. The organisation also works with students, volunteers, schools and local institutions, sharing environmental information and supporting projects on topics such as waste, air quality and sustainable transport.
