SE Wisconsin Coastal Resilience

Southeastern Wisconsin Coastal Resilience is a University of Wisconsin Sea Grant Institute project supporting communities as they prepare for coastal hazards. Serving Ozaukee, Milwaukee, Racine, and Kenosha Counties, the initiative addresses risks including shoreline erosion, coastal storms, and fluctuating water levels that can threaten properties and affect tourism and commerce. Its work helps local communities understand these challenges and identify practical ways to strengthen resilience.

The project offers resources and assistance for assessing and mapping shoreline change, identifying local resilience opportunities, and developing educational materials about resilient coastal practices. It also supports planning and policy development and organizes a Community of Practice where participants can share knowledge and approaches. The website provides guidance, tools, and updates on coastal resilience, including information about relevant agencies and organizations, Great Lakes community efforts, and local initiatives. Its blog features topics such as Lake Michigan water levels, climate impacts, and NOAA coastal data resources. The project is funded by the National Sea Grant College Program, NOAA, and the State of Wisconsin.
