About PSR
SF Bay Physicians for Social Responsibility (SF Bay PSR) is a nonprofit education and advocacy organization dedicated to protecting human life from the most significant threats to health and survival. They work towards this by promoting public policies that safeguard human health from nuclear weapons, global environmental degradation, climate change, gun violence, and other social injustices. Founded in 1979, SF Bay PSR initially focused on advocating for the end of the nuclear arms race and the abolition of nuclear weapons.
However, in the early 1990s, their mission expanded to include addressing the existential threats posed by the climate crisis and the toxic degradation of our environment. SF Bay PSR, the first PSR chapter in the U. S., remains one of the largest among the 24 U.
S. PSR chapters. Their work is rooted in concerns for racial, social, and environmental justice.
They collaborate closely with a diverse network of allies and health professionals to amplify their voices and influence policymakers at the local, state, and national levels. If you are passionate about environmental health, social and racial justice, or nuclear abolition, SF Bay PSR offers mentorship opportunities and training in activism, leadership, and advocacy. Join their activist network to stay up-to-date with their initiatives and receive alerts and newsletters, and become part of the change needed to protect and thrive as a species in harmony with our planet
