The Stable Family Home Trust (SFHT) is a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee that has been providing support for people with learning disabilities since 1980. Founded by a group of families whose young adult children had learning disabilities, the trust initially set up a residential home at the Stables in Bisterne, Hampshire. As more people sought their services, SFHT expanded and now operates eight supported living services, one residential home, and three day service locations in the Southbourne area of Bournemouth.
With a board of trustees comprising eight non-executive members, two of whom have a relative with a learning disability supported by the trust, SFHT is committed to offering excellent support to individuals with learning disabilities and their families. They provide a wide range of services, including residential living, supported living, and a daytime personal development program called Aspire Day Services. Through these services, SFHT supports over one hundred people with learning disabilities.
The trust also engages in fundraising, corporate support, and relies on volunteers to carry out its vision and mission of providing exceptional care and assistance to those in need
