Stand for the Troops (SFTT) is a nonprofit organization founded in 1998 by Colonel David βHackβ Hackworth and Eilhys England to help American combat veterans address traumatic brain injury (TBI) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Its mission is to identify effective, medically supported treatments and improve veteransβ access to them. SFTT informs veterans and families about care options, works with medical experts to assess therapies, investigates emerging research, and helps veterans advocate for their own treatment.
Through its Medical Task Force and Rescue Coalition partnerships, SFTT connects veterans with treatment resources and facilities offering approaches that may complement standard care. The therapies it highlights include hyperbaric oxygen therapy, transcranial magnetic stimulation, low-level light or laser therapy, cranial electrical stimulation, equine therapy, meditation, neurofeedback, organic farming, and service dogs. The organization also shares research findings, veteran resources, news, reports, and educational articles through its website and blog. Supporters can contribute donations or sponsor a soldier to help veterans access treatment opportunities.
