About Stowarzyszenie Górnośląskich Kolei Wąskotorowych
Stowarzyszenie Górnośląskich Kolei Wąskotorowych (GKW) is the oldest continuously operating narrow-gauge railway in the world. Established in the mid-19th century, GKW is a public network of narrow-gauge railways with a track gauge of 785 mm. Originally designed for transporting raw materials and semi-finished products between industrial plants in the Upper Silesian Industrial District, GKW now operates one historic line with regular tourist service.
This 21 km line runs from Bytom Wąskotorowy to Tarnowskie Góry Wąskotorowe and Miasteczko Śląskie Wąskotorowe, offering passengers the opportunity to explore the industrial landscape of Bytom, visit the Underground Silver Mine in Tarnowskie Góry, or relax by the reservoir in Miasteczko Śląskie.
