About GEFSGPIndonesia
The Global Environment Facility Small Grants Programme (GEF SGP) Indonesia supports community-led action that connects local initiatives with global environmental benefits. Through grants and related programme support, it works with grassroots groups and communities on biodiversity conservation, climate change, sustainable livelihoods, and environmental management. Its activities include sustainable production, restoration of landscapes and mangroves, waste management, green infrastructure, and community-based renewable energy and energy efficiency.
The programme also supports village-owned enterprises and small, environmentally friendly businesses, while promoting women’s participation and leadership in natural resource governance. GEF SGP Indonesia provides calls for proposals and guidance for prospective partners, and shares project reports, publications, case studies, news, and stories from grantees. Its work brings communities together with local governments, non-governmental organisations, and private-sector partners to advance sustainability and incorporate effective approaches into local development plans.
The programme reports support for more than 150 sustainable community development projects across Indonesia, alongside initiatives that strengthen livelihoods and improve environmental outcomes
