Shadow Libraries, often referred to as pirate libraries, are digital archives that provide access to a vast range of texts outside the constraints of traditional copyright laws. Originating from the efforts of Russian academics in the 1990s, these libraries emerged to combat governmental censorship and have since evolved into an extensive network of resources accessible online. This site serves as a comprehensive guide to these collections, offering direct downloads from notable sources such as Anna's Archive, LibGen, and the Internet Archive.

The mission is to democratize access to information, recognizing that knowledge is a powerful tool often withheld by those in control. The site encourages users to engage in Guerilla Open Access, advocating for the sharing of texts, including those that are out of copyright, and challenging the privatization of knowledge. By compiling these resources, Shadow Libraries aim to create a world where information is universally available, fostering a spirit of cooperation and resistance against knowledge monopolies. Join the movement to share and expand this valuable archive.
