Shadow Wood

Shadow Wood is an alpaca farm based at Kopuku Road in the Pokeno and Maramarua area of New Zealand. The owners raise and care for alpacas in a setting they describe as well suited to the animals, which tread lightly on the soil and produce natural fibre. The farm specialises in Suri alpacas, valued for their distinctive fleece, and has a particular interest in black animals as well as Suris in other rich colours.

Shadow Wood offers alpacas for sale to suit a range of budgets and needs, including elite females, stud males and animals suitable for starter herds. Its services also include stud services and pre-export isolation, supporting the safe export of healthy alpacas from New Zealand to destinations around the world. The farm’s facilities include permanent weigh scales and a safe pen designed to make alpaca handling easier. Shadow Wood also shares farm news, show results and practical information about alpaca care, alongside updates on events and the next generation of cria.
