About SHAF
The South Hams Arts Forum (SHAF) is a collective of more than 160 artists and craftspeople based across the South Hams in Devon. Founded in 2000, the association brings local creatives together to showcase their work, build connections and develop opportunities for the arts in the region. Its programme includes an annual Arts Trail, exhibitions and local events.
Held each October, the Arts Trail invites visitors to explore artists’ homes and studios, galleries, halls and other venues, meet makers, learn about their work and buy directly from them. It features a broad range of art and craft, including painting, ceramics, sculpture, jewellery, woodwork, textiles, photography, printmaking and basketry. SHAF also organises Creative Passions, a summer exhibition, and Present Maker, a pre-Christmas showcase of handmade gifts. Members can participate in exhibitions and events, attend quarterly meetings and connect with fellow artists. The forum also shares event information and practical resources, including Arts Trail brochures and application materials, helping visitors plan their routes and artists take part.
