Shajra is a free-forever online genealogy website that helps people discover, build, and preserve their family histories. Its international collection includes thousands of family trees contributed by people around the world, giving members a place to document their lineage and share it with future generations. Users can start a tree with just a person’s name, then add information and expand family relationships over time. Trees present ancestry in a readable pedigree format and can include relatives across generations, including parents, siblings, spouses, and children.

Shajra offers simple and advanced search tools to find people by name, part of a name, or ID, and to explore biographies and family connections, including patrilineal and matrilineal relationships. The site also describes an evidence-based review process intended to support the authenticity of updates. Members can contribute to the shared resource, while volunteers are invited to support its family-history mission. Shajra is accessible online across devices and provides guidance, contact options, and an Android app for users interested in preserving and exploring their roots.
