Shakespeare in Detroit (SiD) is a groundbreaking non-profit organization that brings the works of Shakespeare to life in the heart of Detroit. Since its inception in 2013, SiD has pioneered open-air and site-specific productions, showcasing the beauty and history of the city's diverse venues, theaters, and parks. With an all-local cast, SiD aims to make Shakespeare accessible to both new and traditional theater audiences.

But SiD's mission goes beyond just staging performances. For the past four years, SiD has dedicated itself to developing Shakespeare STEAM programming in local schools. Through this initiative, students in grades 3 to 12 learn about the science of lighting, the technology of sound design, the engineering of performance, the art of classical acting, and the mathematics behind set building.

And now, SiD is thrilled to announce its return to professional programming with its upcoming production of The Complete Works of William Shakespeare Abridged/Revised in May 2022, presented in collaboration with the African-American Shakespeare Company. As the official Shakespeare organization of Detroit, SiD aspires to be a cultural force, attracting visitors from all over the world to experience its world-class offerings of staged readings, theatrical productions, and special events. The organization is also committed to providing educational programming that enriches the curricula of K-12 students throughout Southeast Michigan.
