Shanga & Shanga Foundation is a remarkable brand based in Arusha, Tanzania that creates beautiful and sustainable products while making a positive impact on the lives of people with disabilities. Their journey began in 2007 when a local resident crafted a unique necklace using local fabric, beads, and marbles. The necklace became an instant hit and sparked the birth of Shanga.

What started as a small backyard operation quickly grew into a self-sustaining social enterprise. Shanga now employs 34 people with disabilities who create a wide range of creative products, including weaving, glass blowing, beading, paper making, and metalwork. Using recycled and sustainable materials whenever possible, Shanga produces unique pieces that celebrate Tanzanian culture.

Visitors have the opportunity to meet the staff and purchase products on-site, witnessing firsthand the abilities and talents of the Shanga team. But Shanga's impact goes beyond creating beautiful products. They aim to remove the stigma faced by people with disabilities in East Africa, providing them with employment opportunities and a safe and supportive environment.
