Shanghai Birding

Shanghai Birding, founded by American birder Craig Brelsford, serves as an essential resource for birding enthusiasts in Shanghai and beyond. Originally launched during Craig's time in Shanghai from 2007 to 2018, the website has evolved into a comprehensive platform showcasing Craig's award-winning photography and extensive knowledge of avifauna. It features detailed field guides, including a unique focus on Shanghai's diverse bird species, and offers insights into birding locations throughout China.

Craig, a top-ranked eBirder, has documented over 930 species, while his wife Elaine, also an accomplished birder, was recognized as the highest-ranked woman eBirder during her time in China. Shanghai Birding includes blogs, tips on birdwatching, and opportunities for community involvement in bird conservation. With a user-friendly design, the site aims to inspire locals and visitors alike to appreciate and protect the rich avian life in and around Shanghai. Whether for research, photography, or casual birdwatching, Shanghai Birding is a valuable hub for bird enthusiasts.
