About Shannon Academy
Welcome to Shannon Academy of English! Situated in Athlone, Ireland, Shannon Academy offers quality programmes in a safe and enjoyable environment. Established in 2001 by school director Caoimhe O'Connell, Shannon Academy has grown from an English language summer school for Spanish and French students into a year-round, multicultural establishment. Our ethos is built on developing strong relationships with agencies, students, and host families.
We believe in integrating students into the community, immersing them in Irish culture, and fostering friendships that last a lifetime. Safety is our top priority, with staff available 24/7 to support students and host families. We welcome students from all over the world to participate in our tailored programmes, including the Summer Programme, Academic Programme, Cultural Stay Programme, and Work Placement Programme.
