Shaolin-Kampfsysteme

The Association for Shaolin Martial Systems and Zen Martial Arts is an independent, volunteer-led martial arts club based in Viersen, Germany. Established more than 30 years ago, it draws on over five decades of experience from its founder, Josef Stockem, and continues under Dr. Thomas Pilz, who took over leadership in 2022.

The association focuses on traditional martial arts rather than competitive sport, emphasizing practical self-defense, respect, disciplined learning, and development of both body and mind. Training begins with Shaolin Karate, combining traditional karate foundations with the Northern Shaolin system, and progresses to Northern Shaolin Kung Fu and advanced Shaolim-Si forms. Classes also incorporate Tai Chi, Qigong, and weapons training with the sword, long staff, and short staff.

Beginners and advanced students train together in small groups, supported by experienced Dan-level instructors, with additional sessions for advanced practitioners. The association describes its instruction as non-commercial and honorary, with no membership contract, annual dues, or examination fees. It welcomes learners with an open mind and willingness to train
