Shark Research California (SRC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Half Moon Bay, California, focused on researching and conserving sharks and rays along the California coastline. Its work aims to deepen understanding of these often-mysterious marine animals and support effective, science-based conservation strategies. Led by a team of scientists, SRC studies shark behavior, ecology, and population dynamics.
Researchers use tagging and tracking technologies to investigate where sharks move, what they eat, and how they interact, producing insights that can inform conservation efforts. The organization also examines the roles sharks play in marine ecosystems, including how changes in their populations may affect other species and the overall balance of ocean environments. Through its research and conservation mission, SRC seeks to advance knowledge of sharks while contributing to healthier coastal ecosystems.
The organization invites the public to discover its research and support its mission, and shares updates through its website and social media channels
