About Shaw Festival
The Shaw Festival is a renowned theatre company located in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario. Inspired by the work of the esteemed playwright Bernard Shaw, the festival produces a diverse range of plays from his era as well as contemporary works. With over 10 productions each year, performed in three theatres, the Shaw Festival has become a significant cultural icon in Canada, attracting an audience of over 250,000 people.
Led by Artistic Director Tim Carroll, the festival's 61st Season offers an exciting lineup of shows, including the world premiere of Mahabharata, Stephen Sondheim's Gypsy, Noël Coward's Blithe Spirit, and the rarely produced The Apple Cart by Bernard Shaw himself. Additional highlights include James Baldwin's The Amen Corner, Prince Caspian, and The Playboy of the Western World. The festival also presents two delightful Holiday Season offerings: A Christmas Carol and the romantic musical Brigadoon by Lerner and Loewe.
