» Sheepdog Marksmanship

Sheepdog Marksmanship Training provides personalized firearms instruction for gun owners in Central Texas, serving the Gatesville and Jonesboro area near Waco, Temple, and Killeen. Led by Jim Barrows, a retired Army lieutenant colonel and former commander of the US Army Marksmanship Unit, the business draws on more than 20 years of experience. Barrows is also a competitive pistol shooter with Master classification in USPSA and Grandmaster classifications in SCSA.

Training is designed for people at every experience level, from first-time handgun users to experienced shooters seeking to improve. Small classes, typically limited to eight participants, allow for individual feedback, skill assessment, and practical guidance focused on building marksmanship, confidence, and competence. Courses include Defensive Pistol 1 and 2, pistol red-dot sight training, Texas License to Carry classes, the NRA Basic Pistol and Basic Rifle courses, and the School Safety Guardian Program. Sheepdog Marksmanship Training also offers personalized training plans and private or group sessions by arrangement.
