Rather than treating a backlog as a list of obligations, Shelvely lets players organize their collections at their own pace, with honest statuses and no guilt-inducing counters or reminders.

The service supports games across platforms and regional editions, helping users identify the versions they own. Players can create custom lists, save games to a wishlist, and follow others to discover what they are playing or setting aside. A mobile app is designed to make it easy to update a library, save recommendations, and browse the activity of people users follow while away from a computer. For desktop, Bridge connects launchers including Steam, GOG, Epic, and Playnite with a Shelvely library, importing installed games and allowing users to control what is shown. Bridge is planned for Windows, macOS, and Linux.
