Sherri Foundation

The Sherri Gilkerson Memorial Foundation is an Arizona nonprofit charitable organization established in memory of Sherri Lea Hammond Gilkerson, a horseman, teacher, family member, and friend. Recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3), the foundation supports young people through education, sport, and charitable activities. Its work grew from a scholarship program and memorial horse show that began in 2007, with supporters from Arizona and California helping carry forward Sherri’s legacy.

The foundation provides annual academic scholarships through an application process and in association with the NRCHA Foundation Reno Snaffle Bit Futurity and Horse Show Youth Classes. Scholarship recipients have pursued studies in areas including equine management, agricultural business, veterinary medicine, education, health care, and communications. Many have also participated in 4-H, Future Farmers, rodeo, NRCHA youth associations, college equine teams, and Youth Worlds competition. Alongside its scholarship program, the foundation organizes and supports horse show activities and welcomes sponsors and donations to help enrich young lives through learning and equestrian involvement.
