SHG Lenkrad

SHG Lenkrad is a Stuttgart-based self-help group supporting people preparing for a medical-psychological assessment (MPU) after alcohol- or drug-related driving incidents. Established in 2012, the group combines peer support with structured, practical preparation to help participants understand the causes of their traffic offence and work toward regaining their driving licence.

Its support is relevant to people facing an initial or repeat assessment, including those who have completed treatment or are using a driving ban period to make changes. Sessions cover MPU requirements, preparation for the assessor interview, personal reflection, and information about alcohol, drugs, and evidence of abstinence. Participants can also share experiences and discuss sustainable changes with others in similar circumstances.

Meetings are generally held every other Monday, alternating between in-person sessions at EvA, Büchsenstraße 34/36 in Stuttgart, and online sessions via Zoom. The usual monthly contribution is €30, with individual circumstances open for discussion. New participants are welcome, and attendance and active participation can be documented on request.
