Shima Farm Research (Shima Nōken) is a Japanese gardening and home vegetable-growing blog built around practical lessons from hands-on experience. Its creator began gardening after moving house and has spent six years learning through both successes and setbacks, growing more than 50 kinds of vegetables each year, from tomatoes, eggplants, and cucumbers to herbs such as basil and cilantro. The site shares guidance for beginners and experienced growers who want to improve their results and enjoy gardening more.

Its resources cover getting started, choosing and growing vegetables, planning seasonal crops, preparing soil, watering, fertilizing, selecting tools, raising seedlings, and using companion planting. Readers can also explore detailed growing guides, cultivation plans, garden design ideas, and tips for creating vegetable-growing spaces, including raised beds. Shima Nōken documents real-time plant observations and growing reports, offering records and reflections from actual cultivation, as well as photography advice. A comprehensive guide brings together its gardening knowledge.
