Shinny

Shinny Club is an Amsterdam ice hockey club for adults who enjoy playing recreationally. Founded in 1997, the club began when a group of ice hockey enthusiasts rediscovered the sport during a winter when the Dutch canals froze. Today, Shinny teams play at Jaap Eden Ice Rink, with regular sessions held on Monday evenings.

The club welcomes new players and encourages fresh ideas, offering an opportunity to try a practice and find out whether there is space on a team. Alongside its recreational play, Shinny fields competitive teams that take part in multiple divisions of the Dutch Ice Hockey League, including the fourth division. The club’s history also includes team achievements, such as a fifth-division championship in 2016 and a fourth-division championship in 2014.

Shinny keeps participation accessible: the stated equipment requirements are shin pads, gloves, and a helmet. People interested in learning more or joining a session can contact the club by email at info@shinny. nl
