Ship 1959 is a Sea Scout Ship based in Annapolis, Maryland and surrounding communities. Our Ship is committed to promoting seamanship, citizenship, personal fitness, leadership, and community service. We provide a range of educational and practical experiences for our Sea Scouts.

Our Sea Scouts learn important skills such as marine safety, sailing and navigation, galley skills, and fellowship. We prioritize marine safety and have a strong partnership with the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 24-09 based in Bowie, Maryland. Sailing and navigation skills are emphasized, as well as proficiency in piloting, boat handling, weather knowledge, and marlinspike seamanship (knot tying and line handling).

Additionally, we teach our Sea Scouts galley skills, including provisioning and meal preparation for their "long cruises." We believe that fellowship and fun are crucial aspects of a Sea Scout's life, and we strive to keep our youth engaged in leadership, skills development, and enjoyable experiences.
