The Shipowners’ Club is a mutual insurance association serving vessel owners, operators and charterers worldwide. With 170 years of experience, it provides Protection and Indemnity (P&I) cover, Legal Costs Cover and associated insurance for smaller and specialist vessels. Its coverage supports a broad range of operations, including barges, cargo, fishing, harbour, offshore, passenger, tanker, yacht and autonomous vessels, as well as personal accident insurance and cover under the Maritime Labour Convention.

The Club combines insurance with practical support to help Members manage maritime risks and liabilities. Its services include specialist claims handling, loss prevention, condition surveys, sanctions guidance and access to P&I Online and a global network of correspondents. A 24-hour, seven-day emergency claims response provides immediate assistance following an incident or casualty involving an entered vessel. Members can also access Medisea and Waterborne services. Following its 2024 acquisition of Waterborne Underwriting Agency Limited, the Club offers Hull and Machinery cover to Members domiciled in the UK and Ireland.
