Shit2Power

Shit2Power develops decentralized technology that transforms sludge from wastewater treatment plants and industrial producers into renewable energy. Its patented container-based system is installed at the sludge producer’s site, helping reduce transport requirements and disposal costs while making energy available locally. The process dries mechanically dewatered sludge using recovered process heat, then gasifies it in a reactor at about 850°C.

Combined heat and power equipment converts the resulting synthesis gas into electricity and heat, with surplus heat supporting the drying stage. The process also reduces sludge volume by more than 90%, destroys organic contaminants, and leaves a smaller quantity of hygienized, nutrient-rich mineral ash in which heavy metals are bound. Shit2Power’s technology is designed for different feedstocks, including sewage and paper sludge, digestate, and slaughterhouse residues, subject to specified solids content, heating value, and continuous supply.

Customers pay according to the sludge processed and energy produced, without an upfront investment. The company aims to help treatment plants and industrial facilities address rising disposal challenges through local resource recovery
