Shop HELIOPOLIS

Heliopolis Bookstore is a Netherlands-based online bookseller focused on distributing fiction and nonfiction from the Global South. It brings readers English- and Arabic-language books by writers and publishers from Africa, the Levant, and the Middle East, with shipping and delivery available within the European Union. Its mission is to connect cultures through literature and offer perspectives that reach beyond familiar narratives.

The shop’s catalogue spans fiction and nonfiction, including novels, literary classics, history, archaeology, cultural studies, and women’s history. Featured titles explore topics such as Egypt’s geology and ancient heritage, debates over antiquities and national identity, resistance in colonial-era Libya, and the histories of women in Islamic societies. Fiction offerings include works by celebrated authors such as Egyptian novelist Ihsan Abdel Kouddous. Books are presented with descriptions, author or editor details, publisher information, and ISBNs, helping customers learn about each title before ordering. By bringing together books from regional writers and publishers, Heliopolis Bookstore makes literature and scholarship from the Global South more accessible to European readers, while supporting discovery across languages, histories, and cultures.
