Cholet Shorinji Kempo is a martial arts club in Cholet, France, where the traditional Japanese discipline has been taught since 2007. Founded in Japan in 1947 by Doshin So, Shorinji Kempo combines a comprehensive self-defence system with an ethical approach focused on developing people who are strong, fair, humane and peaceful. The club is an official branch of the World Shorinji Kempo Organization and is affiliated with both the French Karate and Associated Disciplines Federation and the French Shorinji Kempo Federation.
The club offers training for adults, teenagers aged 12 to 16, and children aged seven and up. Classes take place at 6 avenue du Chêne Rond in Cholet, with sessions scheduled on Tuesdays and Fridays. Its practice includes Goho and Juho techniques, Seiho, and study of the discipline’s philosophy and principles. Cholet Shorinji Kempo also takes part in demonstrations, association forums and regional or European events. Prospective members can contact the club for enrolment information and are offered two trial classes.
