About 国際短編映画祭 SSFF & ASIA
SSFF & ASIA is a renowned brand that encompasses the world of short films. At its core is the Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia (SSFF & ASIA), which is certified by the US Academy Awards and holds the title of Asia's largest international short film festival since its inception in 1999. SSFF & ASIA offers a variety of services and opportunities, including film production, free distribution of short films, screening information, and assistance with participating in overseas film festivals.
With the advent of the 5G era, high-quality film content can now be enjoyed comfortably on mobile devices like smartphones. However, SSFF & ASIA recognizes the importance of real-world film experiences beyond the confines of traditional cinema. By supporting young creators and expanding the platforms for short films, SSFF & ASIA aims to embrace the ever-evolving landscape of the film industry.
Each year, the SSFF & ASIA festival takes place in Tokyo's Harajuku and Omotesando areas, attracting over 10,000 submissions from all over the world. The festival consists of various categories and programs, such as the Official Competition (Japan section, Asia International section, International section), as well as sections dedicated to topics like environment, tourism, CG animation, and non-fiction. Winning films may even become nominees for the Academy Awards Short Film category.
SSFF & ASIA's mission goes beyond hosting a festival. Through various projects, they strive to promote the popularity of short films and elevate the culture of cinema. From connecting companies with short film creators through the Branded Shorts project to providing online access to a curated selection of exceptional short films through the Brillia ShortShorts Theater Online, SSFF & ASIA is committed to expanding the possibilities of the short film medium.
With a history spanning over 20 years, SSFF & ASIA continues to evolve and challenge the future of visual storytelling, nurturing Japan's short film culture and collaborating with individuals worldwide. As a brand, they aim to introduce the world to the immense potential of short films and explore new horizons in the film industry
