国営昭和記念公園 is a national park covering a vast area of 180 hectares, located in Tachikawa and Akishima cities within Tokyo prefecture. Established as part of the 50th anniversary celebration of the reign of Emperor Showa, the park opened to the public in October 1983. With its theme of Recovery of Greenery and Enhancement of Humanity, the park offers a diverse range of recreational activities in a rich natural environment.
Divided into five zones, the park features various facilities and attractions. The Green Culture Zone, which serves as a point of connection between the lush park and the bustling city, offers cultural facilities and acts as a hub for green cultural creation. The Exhibition Zone serves as a corridor from the urban area to the natural park, hosting events and outdoor exhibitions.
The Water Zone creates a natural landscape with trees and ponds while considering the surrounding urban environment. The Plaza Zone, located in the central part of the park, provides ample space for recreational activities and serves as an evacuation area in emergencies. Finally, the Forest Zone embodies the park's core philosophy of Green Recovery and offers the serene ambiance of a deep forest.
