Sbarro Health Research Organization (SHRO) is a nonprofit charity dedicated to funding innovative genetic research to cure and diagnose cancer, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and other chronic illnesses. They also prioritize the training of young doctors with professionalism and humanism. Founded in 1993 by Dr.
Antonio Giordano, SHRO has made significant contributions to the field of genetic research, including the discovery of the tumor suppressor gene pRb2 and cell cycle genes CDK9 and CDK10. With a mission to find cures for these debilitating diseases, SHRO offers various programs such as the Molecular Mechanisms of Cancer, Signal Transduction, Epigenetics & Genetics, Cancer Systems Biology & eHealth, Developmental Biology, Cancer Microenvironment & Cell Signaling, and Innovative Neurotherapeutic Research programs.
