SHU is a local country-wide operating NGO dedicated to improving the quality of health for Ugandans. Their goal is to create healthier families by providing simplified access to quality healthcare. Through Community Health Financing (CHF) approaches, SHU is able to protect families from catastrophic healthcare-related expenditures and ensure easier access to healthcare services.

Currently, SHU operates in 10 districts across Uganda, including Luwero, Nakaseke, Nakasongola, Masaka, Mubende, Bushenyi, Sheema, Mitooma, Wakiso, and Kampala. They offer a range of programs and services, including community health financing, which aims to make healthcare more affordable for families. Additionally, they focus on women's health and empowerment, encouraging pregnant women to attend recommended clinics and receive postnatal care.

SHU also aims to improve household incomes through training in income-generating activities, and they advocate for an increase in the national health budget to enhance healthcare delivery at partner health facilities.
