SIGA

SIGA, the Sensory Integration German Association, is a nonprofit initiative founded in November 2017 to strengthen awareness and acceptance of sensory integration therapy across German-speaking regions. It supports several audiences: clients seeking to understand the therapy’s approach and goals, physicians looking for scientifically grounded information and current developments, and therapists and practices working in the field. SIGA aims to serve as an umbrella organization, promoting shared standards for communication, advertising, and therapeutic practice.

The association provides information about sensory integration and therapy options, along with a directory to help people find member therapists. Occupational, speech, and physical therapists can pursue further training to become sensory integration therapists. The program comprises three modules and concludes with two mentoring sessions, where participants present an independently developed case study for assessment by qualified instructors. SIGA also supports professional development and quality improvement through working groups, shares scientific findings, and invites members to contribute to research and related projects.
