SierraDescents

SierraDescents is Andy Lewicky’s personal website about exploring California’s mountains through backcountry skiing, ski mountaineering, hiking, and climbing. Its focus shifts with the seasons: when snow is available, the site follows ski descents and mountain conditions; in warmer or snow-free periods, it features hiking and climbing stories. The blog’s trip reports cover destinations in California and beyond, including the Sierra Nevada, Mammoth, Telluride, and Arizona, and are accompanied by photographs, videos, and personal observations.

Readers can also find gear reviews, skiing tips and techniques, essays on backcountry safety, and information on current conditions and weather. Additional sections gather climbing routes, hiking ideas, a glossary, and curated links to mountain, avalanche, and weather resources. SierraDescents also points visitors to books and DVDs related to its outdoor interests.

Rather than presenting itself as a commercial outfitter, the site serves as an independent outdoor journal and resource for people interested in mountain travel, backcountry skiing, and the practical experience of exploring rugged terrain
