About Surgical Interest Group of Monash University Malaysia
The Surgical Interest Group of Monash University Malaysia (SIGMUM) is a highly-active society that is dedicated to promoting surgical education among medical students. Our mission is to advocate for and support medical students interested in surgery by delivering engaging workshops, events, and educational sessions tailored to their needs. We provide a platform for students to gain exposure and learning opportunities, allowing them to develop a variety of surgical skills.
Additionally, we offer opportunities for students to meet surgeons and explore different surgical specialties to help them make informed career choices. Established in 2011, SIGMUM was founded by Associate Professor Anil Gandhi, with the aim of providing a platform and identity for students passionate about surgery. Over the years, our society has evolved and grown, and we are now located at the Clinical School Johor Bahru.
