Signe et Image is a cultural association founded in 2005 to promote the arts, with a particular focus on reading and writing. Based in Buchelay, France, it supports local cultural life, encourages emerging talent and works to strengthen regional identity through public events and educational activities. Its initiatives include the Biennale de l’Écrit, which brings together different artistic forms to celebrate written expression, and a biennial Book and Writing Fair, held since 2019.
The association also organizes poetry-writing workshops with local schools, culminating in a poetic walk through Buchelay’s streets and woodland, as well as the Challenge Chanson. Its Papyrus Prize encourages reading among CM2 and sixth-grade students through selected novels and activities led in schools and libraries. Signe et Image also publishes books, including local history, poetry and music-related works, and offers courses in palaeography.
Through events, workshops, publishing and partnerships with cultural and educational organizations, the association promotes reading for pleasure and the lasting value of the written word
