Sika Shotokan

Sika Shotokan Karate Kampf Kunst Verein e.V. is a karate club based in Düsseldorf-Gerresheim, welcoming children, young people and adults of all experience levels. Founded in 2000, the club is led by experienced instructor Siglinde Penke, a fifth-dan karate master, and introduces members to Shotokan, a traditional style known for precise, powerful techniques and a strong connection between physical and mental training.

The club offers instruction for beginners and advanced students, with separate training for children, young people and adults. Its activities also include dan examinations, self-defense courses and dedicated classes for women, as well as gymnastics for adults aged 60 and over. Prospective members can attend a free trial session, and the club welcomes both newcomers and returning practitioners.

Training is presented as a way to build fitness, strength, endurance and flexibility while developing confidence, discipline and mental resilience. Members also benefit from a respectful, cooperative community where partners learn together and take responsibility for themselves and others.
