Silene is the regional platform of France’s National Information System on Natural Heritage (SINP) in Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur. Part of a national initiative supported by the ministry responsible for the environment, it brings together contributors to produce, manage, process, share and promote biodiversity data. Silene is a public, collaborative resource designed to make naturalist information accessible and support the management and protection of the region’s natural heritage.

Access to its data is free through two services tailored to different audiences. Silene Nature is open to everyone and helps users explore local wildlife and plants, including species recorded in their commune. Silene Expert provides access to geolocated naturalist records for experienced users, such as government services, local authorities, associations, consultancies and knowledgeable naturalists.

The platform regularly updates its fauna and flora observations and shares news through its information letter. It also provides resources for data contributors and users, including submission guidance, technical tutorials, frequently asked questions, data standards, protocols, reports, and information on sensitive data
