About Silky Gem
Silky Gem Crystal Candy is a brand inspired by Vietnamese Lunar New Year traditions that date back to the Thục Dynasty. These delicious treats are traditionally served with tea or rice wine and are believed to bring health, wealth, and good fortune in the new year. The founder of Silky Gem, Gia Huynh, grew up in a poor family in Vietnam and recalls how Lunar New Year's treats were a luxury for her as a child.
She vividly remembers the special candy called Mứt Rau Câu, Mứt Rong Sụn that her mom and grandma would make every year, alongside other candied crystallized treats known as Mứt. Now, Silky Gem brings these nostalgic treats back to life, combining the traditions of Vietnamese Lunar New Year Mứt Rau Câu with the Japanese Kohakutou art form. Each candy is meticulously made using sea moss agar and sun-dried for 5-7 days, offering a delightful and wholesome treat.
