Silta Lastensuojelu

Silta Lastensuojelu is a Finnish social services company providing specialist and high-intensity child welfare residential care. Founded by social and healthcare professionals, the organisation aims to offer children and young people in vulnerable situations a safe, humane and child-centred alternative. Its residential units, known as Silta Homes, provide structured, home-like environments that support wellbeing, recovery and development.

Care is planned around each young person’s needs, beginning with an individual assessment and a goal-oriented rehabilitation pathway. The approach draws on research, legislation, trauma-informed practice and attachment-based understanding, with predictable daily routines, respectful interaction, participation and clear boundaries. The team supports young people facing mental health challenges, behavioural regulation difficulties and neuropsychiatric strain, while also addressing issues such as violence, disengagement from education and complex family circumstances. Family and network collaboration is an important part of the work.

Silta’s multidisciplinary staff includes social and healthcare professionals, with access to medical expertise and, when needed, consulting specialist doctors and psychologists. The company also prioritises staff wellbeing, believing supported professionals provide better care.
