About Silver City MainStreet Project
Silver City MainStreet is an accredited New Mexico MainStreet program that is dedicated to revitalizing the historic downtown of Silver City. Through collaboration and promotion of downtown events, preservation of the historic district, and development of new and creative uses for downtown buildings, they foster economic development and preserve the local culture and historic resources. With over 145 businesses located in downtown Silver City, the MainStreet program has successfully improved the economic vitality of the area.
They have completed various projects, including the restoration of The Silco Theater, sidewalk renovations, street lights, and the Palace Hotel restoration. As a Main Street America™ Accredited program, Silver City MainStreet Project is recognized for its commitment to creating high-quality places and building stronger communities through preservation-based economic development. They follow the National Accreditation Standards of Performance outlined by Main Street America.
With the support of volunteers, business partners, and the community, Silver City MainStreet continues to thrive and encourages everyone to become involved in their revitalization efforts.
