Simmeshof

Simmeshof is a family-run agricultural farm in Vellberg-Lorenzenzimmern, Germany, specializing in the breeding and keeping of Icelandic horses. Its farming approach emphasizes ecological land management and a largely self-contained operation: horses and cattle are raised on the farm’s own land, and hay is generally produced there. The farm uses no mineral fertilizers or plant-protection products, instead fertilizing hay meadows with its own solid manure.

Cattle help maintain the pastures, supporting diverse grassland and varied forage for the horses. Icelandic horses live in herds, allowing them to develop natural social behaviors. Simmeshof offers horses for sale, including young horses and riding horses, and provides breeding services featuring its breeding stallion and broodmares.

Young horses are introduced gradually to handling and basic work, with breaks between training stages. The farm also offers horse boarding and rearing places, subject to availability. Alongside its horse activities, Simmeshof keeps beef cattle as part of its integrated farming system.
